Nirbhasa is originally from Ireland but currently lives in Reykjavik, Iceland. He is an enthusiastic multi-day runner, having completed four times the Sri Chinmoy Self-Transcendence 3100 Mile Race - the longest race in the world.

 Sri Chinmoy Running & Fitness Festival, Williamstown.

The Sri Chinmoy Running & Fitness Festival takes in the picturesque waterfront views of The Strand, Nelson Place, The Timeball Tower and Williamstown Beach and is completely flat, allowing you every opportunity for a fast time.

All events start on The Strand to the east of the Lifestyle Fitness Centre and finish at the Newport Athletics Track. A course map to be mailed to all pre-entrants will also be available for viewing on race day.

4km Run

  • Starting at 8AM, the 4km competitors will complete a 2km out and back course along The Strand between the start/finish and Stevedore St, and finish at the Newport Athletics Track.
  • This course is measured at 4.2km.

10km Run

  • Starting at 8AM, the 10km competitors will complete a 5km out and back course between the start and the Esplanade near Williamstown Beach at Thompson St. The course utilises The Strand, Nelson Place, Battery Road, Morris St, and finishes at the Newport Athletics Track.
  • The 10km course is measured to Athletics Australia Certification.

Half Marathon

  • Starting at the revised time of 8.20AM, the half marathon runners will initially complete a 14km out and back course along The Strand, Nelson Place, Battery Road, and The Esplanade between the start and Gloucester Reserve at Williamstown Beach.
  • The half marathon runners will then be directed north along the bike path to the turnaround on Hyde St, at the West Gate Bridge (approx 15.5km) before returning south along Douglas Parade, through Newport Park to the front of the Lifestyle Fitness Centre (approx 17.5km).
  • The runners will then be directed south along The Strand to the turnaround at the Sea Scouts Drink Station opposite Stevedore St (approx 19.5km), and then return along the bike path to finish at the Newport Athletics Track
  • The half marathon course is measured to Athletics Australia Certification.

Marathon

  • The marathon has a start time of 7.15AM.
  • The marathon runners will initially run along The Strand and then make a left turn onto the bike path running south adjacent to The Strand. The marathon runners will return to the road along Nelson Place to Battery Rd.
  • From Battery Road the marathon runners will enter into Morris St and then into The Esplanade and upto Gloucester Reserve at Williamstown Beach (approx 7km), as per the Half marathon course.
  • The marathon runners will then be directed further west along the bike path into the Altona Wetlands to a turnaround point just west of Maddox Rd (approx 10km).
  • The marathoners will then retrace their steps back to the start adjacent to the Newport Athletics Track (approx 20km).
  • The runners will then be directed north to the turnaround on Hyde St at the West Gate Bridge (approx 22.5km) before returning south along Douglas Parade, through Newport Park to the front of the Lifestyle Fitness Centre (approx 24km).
  • The runners will then be directed south along The Strand to the turnaround at the Sea Scouts Drink Station opposite Stevedore St (approx 26km), and then return along the bike path to the start (approx 28km).
  • The marathoners will then complete another 2 x 8km loops bound by the Hyde St turnaround at the West Gate Bridge and the Sea Scouts Aid Station and before finishing at the Newport Athletics Track and receiving there well earned commemorative finishers medal.
