Sunday 9 December 2007, Williamstown

Congratulations to all those who took part in the Sri Chinmoy Williamstown Foreshore Run on Sunday 9th December, results and photos are now available online. With temperatures in the 30s all week things were sharping up for hot one on race day, however a welcome cool change on Saturday brought the conditions back to the "optimum running zone."

Sunday came with the right mix of slight cloud cover and a mild sea breeze and along with the perfecr flat and fast course along the Williamstown foreshore brought runners to the realisation that today was the day for that big PB. The race was certainly on from the start with the first 5km runner Darren Morris, leading out the10k runners for a fast first lap, Darren Morris went on to take out 5km run with a great time of 16:52. Now running solo the lead 10k runner Grant Morgan got on with the job to hold on to a very tidy time of 33.04 to take out the mens 10km.

Also a special mention must go to Bridgit Wetherall-Spackman who slashed a minute off the female 10km course record by clocking a very respectable time of 37:47, and in the process beat home all but 5 of the men. Nice going Bridgit.

The fine racing made for a fitting finish to what has been a great season for the Sri Chinmoy Races, thanks to everyone for participcating over the year, Best of luck with the training over the Christmas break and we'll see you in the new year.

Our next event is the Sri Chinmoy Princes Park 10K on Sunday February 3. The event offers 10km and 5km distances on a scenic and flat 5km circuit around Princes and Royal Parks, culminating in our famous post race breakfast. Earlybird online entry is now available. We look forward to seeing you there.
