Sri Chinmoy Williamstown Foreshore Run Race Report

Sunday 14 September 2008, Williamstown, Melbourne.

Congratulations to everyone who participated in the Sri Chinmoy Williamstown Foreshore Run on Sunday 14 December. A full list of results and photos from the day are now available online.

Racing in overcast and windy conditions Chris Discombe completed the 10km course in an impressive 34 mins and 27 seconds, reaching the halfway ahead of the whole 5km race field.

In the women's race, Louise Denley showed the field a clean pair of heals as she cruised to an easy victory in 40 mins 54 seconds, more than 400m clear of the rest of the field.

Special congratulations to Ian Spinks who took line honours in the 80+ age category in the 10km event in a very creditable 57 mins and 18 seconds.

Despite the pending storms the race was completed without a drop of rain, in fact there were even moments of rare sunshine as the 350+ competitors tackled the 5km beachfront circuit. However no sooner had the last runner finished the course, the heavens once more opened up delivering much needed rain to the land.

If you would like to provide us with feedback from the day you can email us at melbourne@srichinmoyraces.org.

Look out also for our premier event the Sri Chinmoy Running & Fitness Festival on Sunday May 31 back at Williamstown incorporating the marathon, half marathon, 10km and 4km distances. The course is flat and fast. Earlybird online entry now available.

We look forward to seeing you at one of our events in 2009.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
