Sri Chinmoy Running & Fitness Festival

A premier event on the Melbourne Running calendar and the largest event staged by the Sri Chinmoy Marathon team worldwide - 4 races in one day with 2500 athletes taking part last year.

Sunday 27 May 2012. Our premier event on the Melbourne Running Calendar. Choose from the four distances on offer. You will discover that Williamstown is the perfect place for a run followed by some well deserved relaxation after your race.

We regret to advise that due to unforseen circumstances, the 2012 Sri Chinmoy Running and Fitness Festival has been cancelled. Entries that have already been received and processed will be refunded in full.

Our regular monthly events will continue as normal.

The Course

The event is conducted on a scenic waterfront course along roads and paths through Williamstown, Newport and Spotswood. The course is flat, fast and ideally suited for personal best times.

Venue: Newport Athletics Track, Cnr The Strand & North Rd, Newport. Melways 56 B4.

  • 7.15AM - Marathon
  • 8.00AM - 4km
  • 8.15AM - 10km
  • 8.40AM - Half marathon

A full course briefing will be conducted at 5 minutes prior to the start of each event.

The course cutoff time for all events is 1.15PM. If you feel you will take more than 6 hours to complete the marathon please contact us.

Entry Details

  • On the day entries accepted between 6.15AM and 7.45AM at the Newport Athletics Track.
  • Concession rates are for U16 and 60+ entrants available only on race day.
  • Credit card and cheque payments can not be taken on race day.
  • Registration packs including course map, number and event information will be sent to all pre-registered competitors in early May.
  • Entrants who register after 12PM Saturday May 19 will have their race packs sent by express post at an additional charge of $4.
  • Online entry closes on Thursday 24 May at 12PM.
  • Refunds minus a $10 administration fee for the race number and timing chip is available till Friday 18 May.

Team Entries

  • Share the fun and enter a group of friends or work colleagues.

Event Features

  • A flat and fast traffic managed course measured to AA standards with markers every km. Note the 4km event is measured to 4.3km.
  • Chip Timing.
  • Drink stations every 2.5 km equipped with electrolyte, fruit, coke and water.
  • Our complimentary post race breakfast including pancakes, soup, and our famous apple crumble.
  • First aid services are provided by St Johns Ambulance.
  • Toilets are available at the start/finish area at Newport Athletics Track and additional toilets located at several points along the course.
  • After the event relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of Nelson Place and Williamstown Beach.

Evening of Inspiration

On the Friday May 25, prior to the Sri Chinmoy Running & Fitness Festival we will present an evening of inspiration, featuring two short films that are certain to inspire and uplift you in your running and training. Entry is free.

Smile for the Camera

Supersport Images will be once again be offering their photographic services at the event, for you to obtain your very own momento from the day.

Images for purchase will be sent via email to each pre-registered competitor after the event to select for purchase.

Be sure to smile when you pass the camera!


Chip Timing

Your timing chip is already affixed to the back of your race number.

Sensors at the start and finish will record your time and provide you with an official 'gun time' and your own personal 'net time' in the race results.

Please note that if you require a replacement race number there will be a $5 reissue fee.


Food Glorious Food

A key feature of all Sri Chinmoy events is the fresh pancake breakfast served to all runners alongside ample servings of fresh baked apple crumble and hearty pumpkin soup. And better still its complimentary to all competitors.

In addition the Rainbow-Silence-Heart Cafe will be onboard with their expresso machine, selling coffee for $3.50.



If you are coming down to Williamstown to support a friend or family member or would like to lend a hand, we are looking for indivduals who would like to assist as course marshals or aid station attendants, on the course.

Volunteers are required from 7.00AM till 10.00AM. For your efforts we will provide you with a goody bag of food and drink and free entry into the event of your choice from our 2012 Victorian Race Calendar.

We have a selected range of commemorative Festival T-Shirts available made from 100% fitted cotton in a range of male and female sizes. See design opposite.
A limited range of tshirts will also be available for sale on race day.

Award Categories

  • Trophies will be award to the top 3 male & female competitors in each event.
  • Medallions for the top 3 male & female competitors in the following age categories for each event.
    • Age U15 years (10km & 4km events only)
    • Age 15-17 years (HM, 10km & 4km events only).
    • Age 18-39 years
    • Age 40-49 years
    • Age 50-59 years
    • Age 60-69 years
    • Age 70-79 years
    • Age 80+ years
  • Commemorative medals will be awarded to all marathon finishers.
  • Marathoners completing their 10th Sri Chinmoy Williamstown Marathon are also eligible for a special award. Please contact us if this will be your 10th marathon

Car Parking

A special carparking area has been set aside on the grassed area at The Northern end of The Strand to the east of the Newport Athletics Track.

There is also some street parking available in the following locations;

  • The west side of The Strand between North Rd & Fergusson St.
  • The west side of Douglas Parade between North Rd & The West Gate Bridge.
  • Along North Rd between The Strand and Melbourne Rd.

Please note that there will be no parking at the front and rear carparks of the Lifestyle Fitness Centre.




For those wishing to extend their stay in Williamstown, there are a number of accommodation options close by within 3km of the Newport Athletics Track.

Race History

The Sri Chinmoy Running & Fitness Festival has an illustrious 15 year history and is one of the few events able to combine 4 different races, and a full post race breakfast for all competitors on the one day. Check out what the previous participants have said.

Results, Photos, Race Reports and Race Archive

Results, photos and the race report will be posted online after the event. You can also have your results sent to you by SMS, on race day, for an additional $2 when you enter online.

All pre-entered competitors will receive an email with links to the results, photographs and race report in the week following the event.
