The first run course is the same for both the Short Course and the Long Course races.   The start is on the cycle path behind the Lakeside Leisure Centre, adjacent to the skate park.   Follow the cycle path towards the dam and across the dam wall.   The turnaround point is after 1 km.   Reverse direction and (keeping to your left) return via the same route.   Continue past the starting point, following the cycle path where it crosses the car park.   Then follow the cones onto the grass in Tuggeranong Town Park and down to the beach.


Transition at the beach to leg 2, the paddle.   The paddle course is a clockwise loop starting and finishing at Tuggeranong Town Park Beach.   Initially head north, truning around the first small island, keeping the island on your right.   Then head south back down the lake keeping close to the left hand (eastern) shore.   Make a hairpin turn to your right around another large marker buoy and return to the starting beach at Tuggeranong Town Park.   For the Short Course, alight at the beach.   For the Long Course continue once more around the same loop for a total of 6 kms.

After returning your craft to the compound on the beach, collect your running shoes and follow the cones back across the grass to the cycle path, cross the car park and into the back yard of the Lakeside Leisure Centre.   Transition here into your swimming gear for leg 3.   Once you reach the concrete no running is allowed: just WALK the few metres to the start of lane 1 for the Long Course swim of 400 metres, or to lane 5 for the Short Course swim of 200 metres.



The swim course follows each lane of the pool consecutively, ducking under the lane rope at each turn, to continue in the reverse direction in the next lane (see diagram), until the course has been completed.   The Short Course starts from lane 5 and finishes at the end of lane 8 of the 50-metre pool, giving a total of 200 metres.   The Long Course follows all 8 lanes for a total of 400 metres.

Upon exiting the pool, walk once more across the concrete to the transition outside on the grass.   After donning running shoes and apparel, head out the western gate of the compound, across the grass and back onto the cycle path for leg 4, the final run home.

The run of 2 kms for the Short Course is exactly the same as for leg 1 (see map above), except that upon the return, you will turn in to the transition compound and into the finish chute behind the Lakeside Leisure Centre.

The final run for the Long Course continues on the cycle path for 6 kms all the way in a clockwise direction around Lake Tuggeranong.   After crossing the car park at Tuggeranong Town Park, follow the cones into the finish chute behind the Lakeside Leisure Centre.
