Melbourne turned on a beautiful crisp sunny day for Sunday's Sri Chinmoy Princes Park 30K. After weeks of cold and rain, the welcome break in weather drew a record field to the event. Full results and images from the day are now available.

Given the last minute flurry of registrations it was decided to split the starts for the races. While this did alleviate some of the congestion on course, we will further refine the course and timing for next year.

Line honours in the 30km main event was taken out by Nicholas Browne in a speedy 1:47:05 followed by Mark Harrison in 1:49:09 and Danny Hawksworth in 1:55:53.

The women's event was won by Debra Beveridge in 2:10:49 who just pipped Sarah Sulaiman 2:10:58 by 9 seconds after 30km of running. Melanie Ades rounded out the placings by finishing in 2:13:33.

In the age group placings we congratulate Anthony Martin who took out the  80+ age category in an amazing age defying 4:00:26. In fact Anthony was the only male runner over 70 and won 70+ age category also!. Judy Wines also demonstrated her strength by completing the 30km in 3:31:52 to finish first in the women's 70+ age category.

The 20km event produced a sizzling performance by Stephen Dinneen who speed around the 4 lap course in 1:06:35. He was trailed by Matthew Coloe and Brad Bullock in 1:09:23 and 1:12:10 respectively.

Brooke Condon completed the women's 20km in 1:20:42 to finish 15th overall well ahead of the other podium finishes Anna Francis 1:28:17 and Sarah Emons 1:29:08.

In age groups congratulations to Steve Callal in the 50-59 category who finished 5th overall in a super fast 1:16:03 and Brian Harrison in the 60-69 age category who crossed the line in 1:26:49 in 28th place, ahead of many half his age.

In the women's race a round of applause to the evergreen Nancy Chorley in the 60-69 category, who finished with a splendid 1:44:02 and to Jenny Alexander and Sandy Suckling 50-59, who finished in 1:34:31 and 1:34:52.

The 2 lap event was convincingly won by Kay Bretz in 35:36 ahead of Tom Rodgers 36:13 and Josh Stewart 37:02. In the ladies race, Carmel Taylor ducked in under the 40 minute barrier with 39:59 followed by Wendy McAlpine 40:54 and Frances Jackways 41:39. Congratulations also to Rob Gray who in the 60-60 category speed around the 2 lap course in 41:41 to finish 22nd outright.

The 5km race almost appeared over before it started with Callum Drake zipping around the course 16:59 after the start, followed by Tim Durnom in 17:12 and Jonathon Woodhouse in 18:44. The women's race was won by Sarah Lester in a super fast 19:02, which saw her place 4th overall. Jane Angel with 20:07 and Vanja Tufuesson with 21:06 took remaining podium placings.

In the age group placings special mentions to Douglas Johnston 60-69, who completed the 5km in 20:45 to finish 13th overall and Vern Gerlach who at 86 years young completed the distance in 51:13.
