  • Sri Chinmoy Princes Park 30K Race Report

    By Veeraja Uppal
    26 July

Well done to all who took part in the Sri Chinmoy Princes Park 30K on Sunday. We were so happy to see so many happy smiling faces testing themselves over the 4 distance events on offer.

Full results and photos from the day are now available online.

The 30km was the feature event of the morning's program with over 150 runners taking the 30km challenge. The men's event was won by Patrick Kenny in 1:52:50, and the women's race was taken out by Emma Miller in 2:10:33. Special mentions also to Didier Martin 2:05:12 and Peter Hyland 2:05:20 who finished one, two in the 50-59 age category.

The men's and women's half marathon events were both emphatically won by John Dutton in a speedy 1:16:21 and Megan Szirom in 1:25:53, each 5 minutes clear of the second placed runner. Well done to Adrian Bell who finished 7th overall in 1:25:19, taking out the mens 50-59 age category.

The 10km race boasted the largest field with close to 200 competitors testing their mettle over the 2 lap circuit. The men's event was taken out by running namesake, Craig Mottram in a swift 36:34 while the women's event was convicingly won by Nadelle Legge in 36:50, which was good enough to give her third place outright. Well done Nadelle. In the age group categories Ron Bennett ran an outstaning 43:32, to take out the men's 60-69 age category, crossing the line in 30th place, ahead of many men half his age.

The 5km race was won by Tony Langelaan in 18:03, closely tailed by Ryan Recchia in 18.43, who also took out line honours in the men's 15-17 age category. Laura Reilly won the women's 5km in 20:35 followed by Kathryn Visser in 21:09. At the other end of the field, we must congratulate the evergreenVern Gerlach, who at 83 years young, completed the 5km circuit in a very speedy 38:35. Well done Vern, you are an inspiration.

For those of you looking for further preparation for the Melbourne Marathon or Half Marathon the Sri Chinmoy Yarra Boulevard Half Marathon is our next event on Sunday September 13 offering the standard trio of distances; 21.1, 10 and 5km. Enter online.

We look forward to seeing at one of our upcoming events soon.
