Dear Runners,
Thank you all for a lovely morning at Minnippi Parklands. I hope you enjoyed it as much as myself. We were blessed with great weather (maybe too good for those doing longer distances), and saw some great performances.
While not wanting to focus too much on individuals, I have to mention 2 runners from opposite ends of the spectrum. Kelsey Rolff, at just 10 years old ran sub 4 minute km's to win the 2.5km race in 9.55. We will all have to watch out for this boy, though we may only see the back of him. At the other end of the age spectrum is 72-year-old Pete Drewitt who ran the 15 km race in 1.17.20, coming 6th overall and ahead of all M50's and M60's.
I was very happy to see some newcomers and everyone just trying to do their best regardless of talent or amount of training. In this difficult year, we can be very grateful to enjoy the experience of running together. We have already started planning for races next year and will send out a race calendar in the next month or so. As a spoiler we are hoping to do a half marathon in the middle of the year, 1 relay race at least, and keep the 2.5km event for children because they are so inspiring.
I look forward to seeing you all again next year, hopefully with normal aid stations etc.
Kind Regards
Amalendu Edelsten
