Over the years many people have commented that it never rains at a Sri Chinmoy Event in Melbourne. Well it seems after years of drought, the heavens finally opened up to shower us with their choicest blessings. Yes it rained. It rained all race long.

But despite the wetness under foot the event attracted a record crowd just under 800, which is double the field in last year's race.

Results and images from the day our now available online. We are sorry that the age category awards and times were not available on race day. The problem with the timing has now been fixed and we will mail out all placegetter medals to those who earned them, including runners from Canada, England and the USA .

The 15km boasted a strong field of 232 runners. Line honours went to Stephen Paine in new course record time of 49.41, ahead of Nicholas Browne in 52.07 and Mark Brockhus in 52.30 was also won the men's 40-40 category.

The women's race was taken out by Danielle Sansonetti in 1.02.13 who finished just ahead to Sarah Sulaiman Ch'Ng in 1.02.24. Third across the line was Beth Redman in 1.03.59.

Amongst the age group runners Olivia Clark ran a very swift 1.14.40 to finijsh first in the women's U15 and James Flynn won the men's 60-69 age category in speedy 1.12.41.

The 10km race posted the biggest field with well over 300 runners taking on the 2 lap course of Yarra Boulevard. First place went to Nick Ashton in 32.37. Interestingly Shane and John also finished 1, 2 in the men's 40-49 age category.

The women's 10km race was won by Kate hecker in 39.49 followed closely by Danielle Bryan in 39.55 and Becky English in in 40.17 who also took first place in the women's 15-17 category. Congratulations to Murray Jones who covered the 10km in 46.30 to take out the men's 60-69 age category.
