Perfect weather greeted us at Lake Ginninderra this morning. Blue skies reflected in flat glassy waters, without a breath of wind about. The chilly 2 degrees soon warmed to an agreeable 10-ish degrees, making for excellent running weather. Sure, the grass was a little long at the Bimbi Beach starting line, but that didn't matter once the athletes hit the bitumen path.

The outright winner of the 4km race was the young Alex Fillingham, a feat that was mirrored when his father Kane won the 10km event (36.14).

Laura Ramboer was first woman in the 4km in 17.47, and Georgina Pembroke was first in the 10km in 40.32.

A large contingent of Achilles runners and guides turned out today to support both events.

Congratulations to all competitors at Lake Ginninderra today.

The Sri Chinmoy 10km & 4km Fun-Runs returned to their “home away from home” alongside Lake Ginninderra’s Bimbi Beach for a rejuvenating morning’s outing.

Liam O’Rorke (34:50) had to contend with a strong challenge from James Mason (34:56) to hold onto the main prize in the men’s blue ribbon 10km event, with Andrew Proctor (35:45) coming in 3rd ahead of a fast-finishing Sarankhuu Jargal (35:57), and Kodi Clarkson (36:09) – just 3 days after his 14th birthday. Matt Rizzuto took out the M50-59 with a fine new course record of 36:38; Kim Houghton returned to the winner’s podium in the M60-69 with 47:21; while Greig McEwan led home the M70 and Over in 59:20.

Jordan Anderton won the women’s 10km race in 46:18, from 2nd placed Rowena Woods (46:46), with Yolanda Lovie-Toon completing the podium in 48:42, ahead of Frederike Stock (49:39) and Chloe Hanbury (49:57). Gabrielle Brown won the F50-59 category with 51:01; while Elizabeth Simpson was again a convincing winner in the F60-69 with a commanding 48:54.

Ashley Evans won the 4km race outright from the Boys Under 13 category in 19:14, from Nick Karpetis (1st M17 and Over) with 20:50. Next home was F17 and Over winner, Naomi Block in 21:47, just eclipsing Darcy Byrne who took out the Girls Under 13s with 21:50.
