New Signs Unveiled on Sri Chinmoy 10 km Course

New signs have been installed along the popular Sri Chinmoy 10 km Running Course beside Lake Burley Griffin in Canberra.

The new signs were unveiled to the public on the occasion of the running of the Sri Chinmoy Mother's Day 10 km & 4 km Fun-Runs on Mother's Day, Sunday 9 May 2005, which were run on the course which has been used for races by both the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team and the ACT Cross Country Club since 1984.

This is the second time the signs have been replaced in the course's 21-year history.   The signs feature a new font and a heavier-duty metal body, constructed in Perth, Western Australia and shipped to Canberra where the finishing touches were added.

There are 13 directional and kilometre-marker signs on the course, which is popular with walkers, in-line skaters and fishermen as well as joggers and athletes in training.   It is also on of a busy route for bicycle commuters into and out of the city.
