Twilight Botanic Gardens Run 18 Feb 2023

Thanks to all those who came and ran this event. I love the twilight runs, although next year we may start a little earlier. When Brisbane decides it's night-time then it is suddenly dark and we had a few tail enders struggling with the course. Hopefully this didn't dampen their experience.

We had a great turnout with a total of 139 entrants, mostly in the 10km, the 5km had a good number too, I think one our biggest 5km field, and with a small number of kids running the 2km in lightning speed and with amazing enthusiasm. Brisbane put on beautiful weather as usual, and although it was a very humid day, running into the later hours makes it a bit more comfortable.

Thank you to all the volunteers who came out and helped. The trickiness of this course requires good marshalls and course marking, and apart from a couple of arrows that were turned around, I think the runners found their way mostly. We will try to simplify the course for next year. Although this one is interesting, I think it is very complex for a lot of people. So if you were one of those who found it challenging, don't let that put you off next years run.

Thank you again everyone for making this a fun event.

Botanic Gardens Twilight Run 19 Feb 2022

We were so excited to see so many new faces at our inaugural Botanic Gardens run on Saturday evening. We definitely enjoyed the event and I know many of the runners did too. It is such a beautiful venue with the giant trees and beautiful gardens and of course the Brisbane river, it makes for a shady peaceful run. We will definitely hold more races in the future here. Some of the runners may have found the course a bit challenging with a few hills throughout, but lets face it, they are hard to avoid in Brisbane. We wanted to hold the entire race within the Gardens which made for an interesting challenge but with a few turns and switchbacks we did manage it. I think the runners covered almost every pathway within the gardens, even the little dirt path through the tropical forest. I don't think we lost anyone. On Easter Monday we hope to hold another run in the Gardens which will be a morning of running and chocolate so keep an eye out for this event.
